What we owe each other.
This is the agreement between you and FridayFolder. It is written in plain English because you should be able to read it once and know where you stand — and because a clause nobody understands protects nobody.

“Check the original before it matters.”
FridayFolder reads school mail and tells you what needs you. It is a very good assistant and it is not a system of record. It will occasionally miss something, or read a date wrong, or file a thing under the wrong child. Before anything that would genuinely hurt to get wrong — a deadline, a pickup time, a medical form — open the school’s own email. That is not us hedging. It is how the product is meant to be used.
What the service is
You forward school, daycare, and activity email to an address we give your household. We read it, work out what needs doing, and send both parents the same short briefing twice a day. You can mark things done, hidden, or snoozed from inside the email, and what one parent does the other sees.
We do not connect to your inbox. There is no OAuth scope, no password, and no scan-everything permission — mail reaches us because you sent it. What we keep and for how long is set out in the Privacy page, which is part of this agreement.
Who can use it
You must be 18 or older, and a parent or guardian of the children you add. FridayFolder is a tool for adults about children; it is not a service for children, and children do not have accounts.
Your household’s account covers both parents. Sharing it more widely than that — with a school, a sitter, an employer — is not what it is for.
What you are telling us when you forward mail
By forwarding, you confirm you are entitled to send us that mail and that we may process it to build your briefings. That is the only permission we take, it covers only what you send, and you can stop at any time by turning the forwarding off.
Please do not forward mail that is not about your family — other people’s medical or financial records, anything under a legal privilege, or a class list you were not given permission to share. If you do it anyway, that is on you rather than on us.
What we promise
- We use your family’s mail to run your briefings, and for nothing else.
- We never sell it, rent it, or hand it to an advertiser.
- We never train a model on it, and our processor is contractually barred from doing so.
- We delete message contents on the schedule the Privacy page names, whether or not you ask us to.
- If we ever change any of the above, we tell you before it takes effect — not afterward in a changelog.
What we do not promise
The service is provided as it is. We do not warrant that it will catch everything, that it will be right about everything it catches, or that it will be available without interruption. Schools write strangely, PDFs go unread, and mail providers have bad days.
We are not liable for a missed event, a misread date, an item filed under the wrong child, or anything you did or did not do because a briefing said so. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to what you have paid us in the previous twelve months — which during the beta is nothing.
Put plainly: this is an assistant, not a guarantee. If a thing matters, the school’s own email is the source of truth and the briefing is the reminder to go and read it.
Beta
FridayFolder is in a small private beta. Some things are unfinished, some will change, and a few will break. Beta households pay nothing and we will give at least 30 days’ notice before that changes, along with the price. Nobody gets charged by surprise, and nobody gets charged without agreeing first.
Paying for it, when that starts
These terms are written ahead of billing so the rules exist before the money does.
- Subscriptions are per household, not per parent. Both of you are included.
- A trial says how long it runs and what happens at the end, on the page where you start it. If a card is required to begin one, we say so there.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel.
- You can cancel any time from Settings or by emailing us. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have paid for, and you keep the service until then.
- We do not pro-rate partial periods.
- If we raise the price of your plan, we give you at least 30 days’ notice and you can cancel before it applies.
- If something goes properly wrong at our end, write to us. We would rather refund a month than argue about one.
Using it reasonably
Use FridayFolder for your own family’s mail. Do not try to reach another household’s data, probe or overload the service, resell it, or use it to break the law. We may suspend an account doing any of those, and we will tell you why.
Leaving
You can stop at any time: turn off forwarding, cancel in Settings, or delete your household outright. Deleting removes your children, your senders, your items, your briefing history, and your login. There is no undo and no thirty-day grace period in which we quietly keep a copy — deleted means deleted.
We may close an account that breaks these terms, and we will say what happened and give you a way to get your data out first, unless doing so would be unlawful.
Changes to these terms
We will update this page as the product grows. For anything that materially changes what you get or what you pay, we will email both parents before it takes effect. The date at the top always says when it last changed.
The legal bits
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, United States, and disputes belong to the courts sitting there. If any clause turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands. This page and the Privacy page together are the whole agreement between us.
